I was really hoping my Dr. would take me off bed rest for at least these last few days but she wants me to stay down...bah! I am trying to be good about that...even though I think it is pretty unnecessary ..but after 16 weeks, what is 6 more days? And to be honest, there is not a lot I could do. If I am ever walking around for more than a few minutes my back starts to feel like it is caving in and I feel like I have the knees of an 80 year old. How do women do this without being put on bed-rest?
Here are answers for the frequently asked questions I keep getting:
YES: Baby boy is still breech so barring some 11th hour Houdini move from this little guy, I'm going to have a c-section..which is going to be just fine.
NO: We are not official on names yet...we may just go with oldies but goodies...like Chad and Mary.
Ok not really. We are all but official on baby boy's name and we have a top 3 (sometimes 4)
for girls names so we are close...ish
YES: I do look smaller in my middle than most people expect for twins...but that's because I'm
partially carrying them in my cheeks...and chin...and hobbit like hands and feet. Awesome. The babies were measured in an ultrasound yesterday and they are estimating 5 pounds 1 ounce for baby girl and 5 pounds 10 ounces for baby boy...with a nearly 1 pound margin of error...so we'll see how big or small they really are! I will be thrilled with 5 pounds anything..but we've done 4 pound babies before so I feel prepared for anything.
YES: The kids are really excited for the babies to come. Lucy is especially excited to put them in the car seats. For some reason she has been so fascinated with the baby car seats. Jack keeps praying that the babies will come at the right time, and Lucy prays that they will "stop kicking mommy". ( I actually like the kicks!) Marian has been telling everyone she sees that there are "5 more days till our babies come!" She also talks about the right way to swaddle and hold a baby. "You hold their backs AND their heads!!"
YES: I am so ready to have these babies. See them, hold them, and have them join our family.
NO: I am so not ready to have these babies. 2 babies? 2 newborns up at night? 5 kids 7 and under?
Is anyone ever ready for that?
Ready or not...here they come!
These are the little preemie outfits I am putting in my hospital bag to bring the babies home in. My wonderful mom knit the adorable hats that happen to match perfectly! She told me that she cried when she mailed them at the post office in Australia. It was only fitting that I cried (more like bawled) when I opened the package here on the other side of the world.
12.12.12 I can't wait!!
