January Highlights

I'm so happy it's March I could burst!  But it also reminds me that I have been neglecting this blog far too long!  January was cold, snowy, and lasted about 65 days...at least that's how it felt.  But as I went through my photos I realized it wasn't all bad!

We started off the New Year right with a Ski day at Brighton (pictured)
then slid our way down the canyon just in time to host my side of the family for a New Years Day party (not pictured dang it!)

We even ran into our favorite elementary school teacher Miss Wirthlin!

This picture doesn't do it justice, but the mountains are beautiful!

I have no idea why someone took this picture but it's good to remember that we have loved watching the Book of Mormon videos as a family on Sunday...and a pictorial reminder that Chad and I (mostly me) are addicted to La Croix.

We got to spend time with Grandma Marian at my nephew's baptism.

I got to go with the Young Women in our ward on a Temple Tour to try and hit as many temples as we could in one day.  This picture seems pretty random but it's taken from the back parking lot of the Jordan River Temple which is the exact spot where I knew for sure that I was going to marry Chad...so I always get a little giddy and sentimental when I'm there!

After the temple we hurried to pack up the car and head south to St. George.   *Mandatory stop for ice cream cones in Scipio.
This is from the top of the White Rock hike at the north end of Snow Canyon.  I have mixed feelings about Snow Canyon.  It is one of the prettiest places I have ever been and I LOVE to go there...but I'm also terrified because as my kids get older and older they get braver and braver on our hikes.  As I get older and older I get scareder and scarder.  I realize that's not a real word but it should be.

Chad feeling very proud of himself for some masterful athletic skill he'd just demonstrated...although  I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Playing catch and football at the park is always one of my favorites.

Pool time=dad time

I try to do this puzzle every time we stay in St. George.  There is something very satisfying about getting every piece in the right spot.  Plus it has the added bonus of luring my kids to come and sit by me.

Grace HATES having her hair brushed.  No matter how much conditioner or tangle spray we use, no matter how soft the brush or how gently I brush it, she is traumatized every single time.  Even the mention of brushing her hair brought her to tears.  So she went from this...

 to this....
and we all lived happily ever after!

We celebrated Chad's 39th b-day with take out Indian Food and a homemade chocolate pie that was absolutely delicious (if I may say so myself).  He got a bike trainer machine thingy so he can still ride his bike in the winter.  Although I am not a fan of its location in my bedroom, it is so fun to see Chad get so into biking.  He works so hard on it and enjoys it so much that I almost don't care that my bedroom looks like a home gym.

Marian built this castle for her school project and she did it with ZERO help from me (minus the drive to the art store.)

She thought it would be "so weird" if I took her picture with it but I disagreed so...gotcha!

Chad and I had a quick weekend getaway thanks to my sister Anne who offered to watch our kids.  We spent the day skiing at Snowbird (which was waaay above my ability level but absolutely gorgeous!

Marian turned Grace into an "Old Lady" in honor of the 100th day of school

Pretty much the cutest 100 year old 1st grader you've ever seen right?
