Scenes like this melt my heart more than just about anything. I LOVE books. I particularly love children's books. Once Chad and I were talking about what is the single most important thing parents can do for their children. Is it having dinner together? Family prayer? What about teaching them how to work hard, telling them you love them? Singing to them, taking them outside to explore the world? Of course I don’t think there is just one thing…but if I HAD to pick I think I would say reading to my kids is at the top. We have family prayer and sit down dinners every day. I say “I Love You!” dozens of times a day. I try to do all the other stuff too. But every one of those things…including family prayer has at times ended with time-outs, stern talking to’s, and utter frustration. Story time…NEVER! It is the moment each day when the “I love being a mom” battery is always recharged. I’m cuddled up with the things I love most…books and my children. It is one of my best ways of telling my children I love them.

Not Pictured: Dear Zoo
I didn't dare creep into Lucy's room while she is sleeping to get this book. She has a very short attention span for most books but this one keeps her glued from start to finish. A great animal "lift the flap" book. Just be prepared to come up with sounds for a camel and a giraffe.
