There was a bike race the day of Homecoming...boo. So within in a few short hours Marian went from this... (crushing it in case you can't tell...9th place baby)
Blurry shot, but you needed to see the cute shoes! Not pictured is the CUTEST bow in the back of the dress. Shoot! But trust me, it is super cute.
Her date was a good friend and she had such a fun time.
I'd like to point out that my photography skills are usually better than this (hello slightly out of focus teenagers... and my blurry finger in the bottom....sigh. BUT the minutes leading up to the doorbell ringing had been a little frantic. Stay Tuned.)
OOh! You can KIND OF see the cute bow on the back of the dress!!! I had googled
"how to tie a perfect bow"
...turns out there IS a right way to do it and it makes all the difference.
Where did we get that pretty boutonniere you ask? Well let me tell you.
Boutonniere story time: Once upon a time there was a beautiful and hardcore mountain biker named Marian. After an amazing race, Marian left the bike race (which was in a faraway land called Price) with a friend and hurried home to get ready for the high school ball (dance), where they don't actually dance...they just jump up and down and "mosh".
Moving on, Marian's parents stayed in the land of Price to cheer on their other fair daughter, Lucy while she competed in her race. (She also crushed it...10th place ya'll). As Marian's parents were hurrying home to be there in time to see Marian whisked away to the dance (where there is no actual dancing) they called Marian to see how all the pre-dance preparations were going. They discovered that Marian had NOT picked up the pre-ordered (and pre-paid) boutonniere from the florist and they agreed to pick it up for her. However, a quick phone call revealed that the evil florist had already closed for the day and there wasn't another florist in all the land who would agree to make a boutonniere last minute.
In desperation, the mother turned to the all knowing wizard...aka Youtube and learned how to make a boutonniere right then and there. The father drove north in I-15 going at quite high speeds so they would have time to hit "Ye Olde Trader Joes" and "Madame Jo-ann's" for the necessary supplies.
They made it home 15 minutes before the young man was expected at the door, and in a flurry of petals, wire cutters, ribbon and finger burning hot glue guns, the mother finished the boutonniere mere minutes before the boy arrived.
The teenagers had a wonderful evening,
the mother ate dark chocolate in a hot bubble bath
and they ALL lived happily ever after!
The End.
